The purpose of this notification is to remind our customers of our software and hardware security.
1) Our software, UNIS, is a PC based server/client software. There is an encryption option to
ensure that TCP/IP user packet data is encrypted during transfer of data to and from our
terminals. Web servers and services may be more prone to less security.
2) Our Terminals and Server Software, DO NOT store any fingerprint images in the database. The
image is only captured, and immediately converted into a minutiae template. This template is
proprietary to each different vendor and no other company can reverse engineer the data. The
template includes special points of the fingerprint and only our algorithm can decode that
information. The image size is also too large to store on the device or software. Along with the
proprietary template, Virdi also does an encryption of the template before storing in the database.
This will add another layer of security for the fingerprint data.
3) Also note, the database file of Virdi Software (MDB, SQL, etc) does have a security password
needed to open the database file. This will ensure another level of security.
We have also designed a high level of security into our new Alpeta web-based software.
Please see the attached document which shows a basic overview of Virdi's template storage process. If you have any additional questions please contact your sales representative.
